In Odesa, a man was selling a car that was brought in as humanitarian aid for the military. The court found him guilty and fined him over 300 thousand hryvnias.

Sale of cars for the military

The incident occurred on July 2, 2024, on Zhukovskogo Street in Odesa. The court established that the accused, a native of Kyiv region, a combatant and a person with a II disability group, together with the head of the NGO 'Legion Svoї' and another individual had organized the sale of a vehicle brought to Ukraine as humanitarian aid.

The prosecution claims that the crime was committed in collusion with others, including the head of the public organization under whose name the vehicle was registered.

Penalties for the sale of humanitarian aid

According to the court's decision, the actions of the accused were classified under part 3 of article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — sale of humanitarian aid during martial law for the purpose of making significant profits. The suspect entered into an agreement with the prosecutor, pleaded guilty and committed to assist in cases against accomplices.

The accused was fined 309,910 hryvnias and was prohibited from holding any positions related to humanitarian and volunteer assistance for three years. During the hearing, he admitted his guilt, expressed remorse, and agreed to assist in the investigation of other cases.

As a result, the man who attempted to engage in criminal trafficking of humanitarian aid was fined and deprived of the opportunity to work in the assistance sector for the next three years.
