Austria prepares significant changes for Ukrainian refugees in October.

From October 1, Ukrainians who are in Austria because of the war will have the opportunity to obtain a special RWR+ card (Rot-Weiß-Rot Karte Plus). This document will allow Ukrainians to legally work and reside in Austria for a long term.
To obtain the RWR+ card, one must meet several requirements, in particular, have a job for at least two years and sufficient financial means. In addition, it is necessary to have a housing lease agreement, a valid foreign passport, knowledge of the German language, and a higher education diploma.
The RWR+ card will provide Ukrainians access to the entire labor market in Austria and the opportunity to live in the country for a long term. After five years, it will be possible to apply for permanent residence in the European Union.
However, when obtaining the RWR+ card, Ukrainians lose the right to social benefits. But refugee status and the ability to use the "Blue Card" remain.
For many Ukrainians, this is a chance to work legally and build their future in Austria. But it also implies challenges, as one needs to support themselves without social benefits.
It is also worth mentioning that the Austrian parliament has passed a law providing Ukrainian migrants with unlimited access to the labor market. The law will additionally amend the law on the employment of foreigners and other legislative acts.
