British intelligence has made a forecast regarding Russia's losses in the war in 2025.

Since the beginning of 2022, Russia has had about 950,000 casualties, killed and wounded in Ukraine, reports British intelligence. This year has been the bloodiest for Russian forces. In the first four months of 2025, Russia could lose about 160,000 military personnel, continuing the trend of increasing losses each year.
In April, the average daily loss of the Russian army was over 1,200 people. Although this is less than at the end of 2024, losses remain very high. Russia has not managed to achieve significant territorial gains with such losses, reports British intelligence.
At the current pace, the Russian Federation will need a lot of Time and sacrifices to capture Ukraine. According to Forbes, in April, Russian troops managed to seize only 68 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. This cost them 4,800 units of equipment and more than 36,600 killed and wounded servicemen. Ukrainian losses in April were minimal, notes an analyst from the Polish company Rochan Consulting.
The Kremlin is equipping its forces with thousands of civilian vehicles and continues to recruit new servicemen. According to the commander of US Army forces in Europe, Russian forces in Ukraine number at least 600,000 servicemen, the highest figure since the beginning of the war.
It seems that Russian President Putin has changed his tactical objectives in the war, focusing on holding the captured territories and supporting the Russian economy.
