For the first time, women joined the Ukrainian legion in Poland: what specialties they chose.


On January 10, at the General Consulate of Ukraine in Lublin, the second group of Ukrainians living abroad signed contracts to serve in the ranks of the Ukrainian Legion. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense on Friday, January 10.
The representative of the unit command, Lieutenant Colonel Petro Horkusha, stated that this Time more recruits signed contracts compared to the previous time. According to him, this indicates an increase in trust among our citizens in this initiative.
He also noted that for the first time, women joined the Ukrainian Legion, choosing specialties related to medicine and communication.
Most of the new volunteers live in Poland, but there are also citizens of Ukraine from Denmark, the Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, and other European countries.
According to Horkusha, the recruitment center of the Ukrainian Legion has already received about 1,300 applications for military service.
The first servicemen of the Ukrainian Legion are going for training
It should be noted that the first unit of the Ukrainian Legion, which was being formed in Poland, has already gone to Ukraine, where the servicemen will continue their training. This was reported by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Bodnar to Radio Liberty. According to the diplomat, on January 10, 2025, the next volunteers will sign contracts with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and go to the training ground in Poland for training.
In November, volunteers from the 'Ukrainian Legion' took an oath of loyalty to the Ukrainian people in Poland. Currently, they are undergoing training.
Earlier, at the General Consulate of Ukraine in Lublin, the first volunteers signed a contract to serve in the 'Ukrainian Legion'. It was reported that after the ceremony, they would go to the training ground of the Polish Armed Forces.
The largest group of recruits from the Czech Republic
It should be noted that Ukrainians living in the Czech Republic made up the largest group of recruits who signed up for the Ukrainian Legion being formed in Poland.
