After a long silence, Johnny Depp finally recalled one of the most high-profile moments of his career – his unexpected firing from the film 'Fantastic Beasts'. In 2020, it became known that Johnny Depp would no longer play the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in the famous franchise.

In an interview with The Telegraph, the actor mentioned that during the filming of the third part, he was simply told — that was it, it was all over.

How Johnny Depp Reacted to His Dismissal

'Actually, I thought they just wanted to retire me,' — the actor noted ironically. However, he emphasized that he had no intention of ending his career: 'There's too much in me to destroy me.'

This blow of fate did not break him, as Johnny admits, worse times had already been — back in his childhood. He suffered from domestic violence from his mother: 'There was a stick, a shoe, an ashtray, a phone — it didn’t matter what.'

Let us remember that the actor was removed from the filming after Amber Heard publicly stated that he had raised his hand against her. Depp denied the allegations, sued for defamation, and won. However, 'Fantastic Beasts' continued without him. His character, the dark wizard Grindelwald, was played by Mads Mikkelsen in the third part.

It seems Hollywood tried to put a period in his career. But Johnny made it a semicolon.
