EU prepares new strike on Russian energy - European Commission.

EU prepares new sanctions against Russia in the energy sector
The European Commission has announced that the European Union plans to introduce new restrictive measures against Russia in the energy sector. This was stated by European Commission spokesperson Paula Pinho during a briefing in Brussels.
Explaining the EU's position regarding the statement of the Pentagon chief about the possibility of imposing energy sanctions against Russia, Pinho emphasized Brussels' consistent policy on this issue. She noted that the EU has already begun to impose restrictions on the Russian energy sector immediately after the start of the war.
'We are working, and in fact, we have imposed sanctions on Russian energy since the very beginning of the war, as you know,' Pinho said.
The representative of the European Commission stressed that the main goal of the sanctions is to gradually reduce the dependence of European countries on Russian energy resources. At the same Time, Pinho pointed out that the details of the American initiative regarding sanctions are not known, but she talked about the EU's plans for further pressure on the aggressor.
'I don’t exactly know what the United States meant when the Secretary of Defense spoke about sanctions on energy. I don’t think they were clear about it. But we, on our part, from the EU, have several packages. We are now discussing the 16th package, which will also influence energy and contribute to a gradual cessation of fossil fuel imports from Russia,' she said.
