Poland prepares civil airports for potential military use.

The Ukrainian army will receive additional support from Poland, which is modernizing its public airports for military purposes. The Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Infrastructure are already in negotiations regarding the modernization of airports so that they can function as both civilian and military airfields, reports Polskie radio, citing 'Glavcom'.
According to Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, the country plans to expand the network of such airports that can be used for both civilian and military needs. The airports that have already met this criteria include Krakow-Balice and part of Chopin Airport in Warsaw.
'Every airport must be adapted and in some way tailored to be able to collaborate and operate with the military,' Kosiniak-Kamysz stated.
The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Maciej Lasek, confirmed that negotiations are ongoing to expand this practice to 15 civil airports. He explained that transport hubs, evacuation points, aid stations, and cargo hubs could be located at the military part of the airports. Lasek confirmed that the expansion of Rzeszow airport is already underway, preparatory works are ongoing at Krakow airport, a cargo hub is being built in Katowice and Wroclaw, and works are planned at Szczecin airport.
Furthermore, Poland is preparing a new 46th package of military assistance for Ukraine, which will amount to €200 million. The Polish Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz noted that Poland is always ready to provide assistance, especially in the defense sector.
