Romania was shaken by an earthquake, which was felt even in Ukraine.


Earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 occurred in eastern Romania
According to the Romanian Institute of Earth Physics, the earthquake was the strongest since the beginning of 2024. Its underground tremors reached a depth of 140 km. Romanian rescuers asked people to remain calm due to the possibility of aftershocks.
Head of the Odessa OVA Oleg Kiper stated that in the south of the Odessa region, the earthquake, according to experts, reached 2-4 points. The tremors were also felt in other areas of the region. Currently, there are no reports of damage or the need for assistance.
In addition, residents of Bucharest and countries bordering Romania - Bulgaria, Moldova, and Ukraine, felt the earthquake's focal points, particularly the city of Odessa, located 340 km from the epicenter.
It should be noted that on June 16, earthquakes also occurred in Georgia. The National Center for Seismic Monitoring reported that the epicenter of the earthquakes was near the villages of Iri and Bajihevi, southeast of the city of Oni. This is the north of the country, near the occupied South Ossetia.
