Scandal Over Special Pensions: What the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Decided on the Controversial Draft Law.

The Law on Limiting Special Pensions Did Not Pass the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada
We have learned that the draft law on limiting special pensions did not receive support in the committee of the Verkhovna Rada. This information was confirmed by the head of the Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy Danilo Getmantsev.
The Committee on Social Policy and the Protection of Veterans' Rights refused to approve the draft law for consideration in the second reading, which provides for restrictions on the appointment of special pensions for prosecutors and employees of certain law enforcement agencies.
After the draft law was adopted in the first reading, Getmantsev was disappointed that the issue was not considered due to the resistance of some committee members.
Details of the Draft Law
The draft law proposes to grant pensions to prosecutors only after their dismissal from the prosecutor's office and to recalculate pensions for law enforcement and prosecutor's office employees based on the growth of income and consumer prices in Ukraine.
- Pensions will be granted to prosecutors only after their dismissal from the prosecutor's office;
- Pensions for law enforcement and prosecutor's office employees will be recalculated taking into account the growth of monetary incomes and consumer prices;
- The law establishes that changes to pension legislation can only be made by a separate law.
Considering the situation, it can be said that the draft law on limiting special pensions was not supported by the committee of the Verkhovna Rada. Changes in the conditions for granting pensions and recalculating amounts imply adaptation to economic indicators.
