The Telegraph: The EU may grant Ukraine access to the Single Market as part of a peace deal.

Ursula von der Leyen is preparing to grant Ukraine privileged access to the EU's Single Market as part of a peace deal. This will give Ukraine the opportunity to access a lucrative market of 449 million consumers, promoting its economic recovery and its path towards EU membership. Unlocking access to Ukrainian arms will also bring funds to Kyiv and strengthen defense spending and production in EU countries. The plan also aims to accelerate Ukraine's integration into many other parts of the Single Market.
'It is already moving in this direction,' an EU official told The Telegraph.
One EU diplomat noted that Ukraine wants to join the EU, not leave it, and that the world has changed. 'Picking cherries in this case is permissible if we choose which cherries to pick ourselves,' the diplomat said.
Marta Kos, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, noted that Ukraine has much to offer in the defense sector, and integrating its defense industry could be a catalyst for a more integrated European defense market. The European Union is also working on plans to accelerate Ukraine's integration into other parts of the Single Market.
Ukraine will also have the opportunity to join the electricity market and gain access to the services sector. However, decisions on full membership will depend on Ukraine's achievements and its adherence to European legislation. Joining the EU is a long process that requires reforms and the adoption of significant parts of European legislation.
Brussels is trying to give Ukraine as many membership benefits as possible, but this could anger other EU candidate countries.
