Tourists raise alarm: the largest great white shark in the world has headed to the shores of the USA.

The great white shark has been lingering near the North Carolina coast since the beginning of the year, causing excitement among locals and tourists. Contender – a huge predator under watch

The large predator nicknamed 'Contender' has reappeared in the waters off North Carolina, in Pamlico Sound. This shark, measuring almost 5 meters, has been spotted in the area since the beginning of this year. Contender weighs 725 kilograms and has just begun its journey, starting from the Southeast coast.

• Contender is the largest shark tracked by the research group OCEARCH, with sizes reaching up to 4.5 meters.
• Dr. Harley Newton from OCEARCH explained that great white sharks typically migrate north in search of food during this Time of year, moving from more southern regions.

The last time Contender was seen was on May 21, but this time closer to the southern part of the North Carolina coast. Although the shark remains in this area, it poses no threat to beachgoers.

'According to global tracking, we observe that great whites spend some time near the coast before migrating north. Contender is no exception,' noted Newton.
