The Ukrainian energy system cannot function normally without nuclear energy - expert.


Nuclear energy is the foundation of Ukraine's energy system, and without nuclear power plants, normal electricity supply to consumers is impossible, believes expert Gennadiy Ryabtsev.
"Nuclear generation provides more than 50% of electricity generation in Ukraine. Can the system function if it lacks half of the generation? Yes, it will work, but consumers will probably not be satisfied with such functioning," emphasized the expert.
That is why Russia constantly attacks the civilian energy infrastructure, trying to influence the operation of Ukrainian nuclear power plants. To achieve this, the enemy attacks the main substations of "Ukrenergo".
However, Ukraine is taking measures to prevent such attacks, including diplomatic efforts.
As is known, Ukraine plans to develop nuclear energy, specifically to complete the construction of two units at the Khmelnytskyi NPP. US representatives in the EU have announced their support for this project. In addition, the IAEA also plans to provide assistance in this construction.
