Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk was detained in Poland but is now free. He expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian delegation, the Ukrainian ambassador in Poland, and President Zelensky for their support and resolution of this issue. He called the situation a "misunderstanding" and said there is no need to crown him.
On September 17, 2024, the detention of Oleksandr Usyk took place at Krakow airport, causing concern in Ukraine. The Minister of Foreign Affairs demanded an immediate resolution of the situation, and the Consul General of Ukraine in Poland lodged an official protest. The President of Ukraine intervened in the matter, and the incident was quickly resolved.
