Woman praised the Russian army on social media - what the court decided.


A woman from the village of Budy in the Kharkiv region was convicted for justifying Russia's armed aggression and for posting messages on the banned social network 'Odнокласники'. For this, she was given a certain punishment.
According to the court's verdict, the woman used a VPN to access the banned social network from her laptop. These actions became known to the investigation after the resource was blocked in Ukraine.
Case details
The materials of the case indicate that the accused disseminated pro-Russian content and published posts from other users in which she justified Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.
- post about the victory 'for us' with a photo of men in military uniforms;
- post accusing the Ukrainian air defense of striking a high-rise building in Odesa.
The accused also published posts in her name, expressing support in Russian and glorifying the head of the Kremlin.
During the court hearing, the woman admitted her guilt.
Court decision
The court found that the accused disseminated hostile propaganda and justified the aggressive hostility of Russia. For this, she was sentenced to five years in prison, but the punishment was replaced with a two-year suspended sentence.
The laptop used to commit the criminal acts was confiscated. It is worth mentioning that recently in Kharkiv, a woman was tried for arson of someone else's property and sentenced to prison.
Due to violations of legislation regarding the dissemination of pro-Russian propaganda and justification of armed aggression, the woman from the village of Budy in the Kharkiv region was sentenced to a two-year suspended sentence. The court also banned her from using VPNs to access blocked social networks and confiscated the laptop she used to violate the law.
