Restrictions on long-range weapons lifted, F-16s sent to Ukraine. Main news for May 26.

The Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Ruben Brekelmans, announced that the country has sent the last batch of F-16 fighters to Ukraine. The aircraft departed from Volkel Air Base to Belgium, from where they will be delivered to Ukraine. This was a 'nostalgic moment' for the Netherlands as F-16s have been central to their air force for decades. The transition to F-35s prompted them to transfer these fighters to Ukraine to help deter Russian aggression.
«This allows them to deter Russian aggression, and for us,» emphasized the minister.
In addition, the Netherlands plans to transfer a total of 24 fighters to Ukraine.
Restrictions on long-range weapons are being lifted
Britain, France, Germany, and the USA have decided to lift restrictions on the supply of long-range weapons to Ukraine. Ukraine is now allowed to use Western weapons for strikes at great distances, including on Russian territory.
