A woman was found guilty in Kyiv of setting fire to a soldier's vehicle and obstructing the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Details of the case

The court established that in August 2024, the woman agreed to an offer to set fire to a military vehicle for money. She noticed a green Volkswagen Transporter, similar to the vehicle used by servicemen, took a photo of the vehicle, and agreed with the curator to set it on fire. The woman set the vehicle on fire at night, although she did not manage to film the burning process due to fear of people at the scene.

The defendant admitted her guilt and stated that her actions were motivated by selfish interests. She also provided that she bought a similar vehicle for the military together with her father.

The court's decision

The court sentenced the woman to 5 years in prison due to the severity of the crime and the impossibility of correction without isolation from society. Earlier, a woman was sentenced in Kharkiv for a similar crime, and received a severe punishment.

The Kyiv court found the woman guilty of setting fire to a military vehicle and obstructing the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. She received 5 years in prison for her actions, which not only posed a threat to the life and property of servicemen but also violated law and order in the country.
